Transilvania - Meridional Carpatian Dream
TRANSILVANIA- Meridional Carpathian Dream
Fagaras Mountains are part of the Meridional Carpathians, being the most impressive, wild and spectacular mountain chain of Romania.
From east to west it has approximately 70 km....
Fagaras Mountains look like a huge spinal column oriented
from east to west having the sides oriented from north
and south.
The northern sides are much shorter andmuch more abrupt than those from the southern area,
The total surface of Fagaras Mountains exceeds 2.400
square meters, being about 7,5 times bigger than the
surface of Bucegi Mountains.
Throughout Fagaras there are 6 peaks more than 2.500
meters high: Moldoveanu 2.544 m, Negoiu 2.535 m,
Vistea Mare 2.527 m, Caltun-Lespezi 2.522, Buteanu’s
Hunting 2.507 m and Dara 2.501 m.
Transfagarasan (trans+fagaras) or DN7C is...
one of the most spectacular roads in Romania.
The road connects the historical region of
Transilvania and Muntenia.
It was meant to cross Fagaras Moutains,
the highest mountain chain of the Romanian Mountains,
which is a part of the Meridional Carpathians.
During summer you can get to Balea Lake by car and
the rest of the time by cable car from
the Balea Cascada Chalet.
The Ice hotel is build here every year close to Balea Lake.
All you need is an extra blanket and some C vitamins pills... :)
Nelu (my brother), thank you for your photos,
I promise that next year we will be, again on the mountain!
TOGETHER!
